Anata - Shisho and co

Postby usurpator » August 21st, 2008 6:24 pm

This is my first posting!
dozo yoroshiku!
I often hear in Japanese contemporary movies wives calling their husband anata - but I read everywhere that it is rude to use it as an equivalent of "you".
There are other words like that that can lead to catastrophe if used out of context - I know I learn a lot of vocab watching movies and anime, and I know that some of that vocab is dangerous... could you do a "beware of these movie/anime expressions!" helper?

Also there is a lot of outdated expressions in historical movies (Kage Musha etc) and a lot of frankly "silly" words used in action oriented Samurai movies (Shisho more polite than Sensei?or just plain outdated?)
