As Easy As Sliced Bread

Postby Mike_in_Nano » February 7th, 2009 2:58 am

We live in Ebisu and my wife likes to get bread from the Kobeya Kitchen Shop above the Train Station. She struggles with the woman because she wants it sliced. For the (English Style) white bread if you want it in big slabs for toast. Whay do you say in Japanese . And for the German style bread that she wants sliced thinner for sandwiches. What would you say? Would "Toast" and "Sandwich" work ? Or is there something in Japanese she should learn?

thick-sliced = 厚切(あつぎ)り atsugiri
thin-sliced = 薄切(うすぎ)り usugiri

May I have thick-sliced bread? = 厚切(あつぎ)りのパンを下(くだ)さい (atsugiri no pan wo kudasai)
