Would it be correct???

Postby Fiverphile » October 20th, 2011 1:49 pm

Please pardon the romaji as I am new to studying Japanese...BUT...after listening to one of the "Newbie" Lessons for the umpteenth time I kind of occurred to me something could possibly be said differently and still get the polite point...the lesson uses several phrases in an exchange and I wonder if shortening it would also be correct...

"Mō ichido onegai shimasu. Yukkuri onegai shimasu"

shortened to:

"Yukkuri, Mō ichido onegai shimasu"

Would this still be correct or am I still thinking too Gaijin???

I understand what you're saying and I think the meaning is correct and all but might sound odd. I think a better way to shorten it would be to just say

"Mo Ichido yukkuri onegai shimas" like "one more time, slowly please"

I'm not sure if that is any more correct than your way, there is probably some nuance that a native Japanese speaker could explain

Thanks for the reply...I will have to ask a friend who lives outside Tokyo when I talk to her this morning...
