Grey hair?

Postby the_kurniawans » April 25th, 2014 4:15 am

Dear All,

What is the Japanese word for grey hair? Is it shiraga? I cannot find it from Google or from this website?

Thank you beforehand.

It's: 白髪

I didn't know the answer: I looked it up. It's easy, and you can do it too! :)

Just go to an online dictionary like Denshi Jisho or Tangorin and type "shiraga" in the search box. You don't just get the kanji: you also get the meanings of each kanji, stroke-order diagrams, and example sentences.

Ricky san,

I am sorry I didn’t provide that. As マイケルさん mentioned that is 白髪.

マイケルさん、
どうもありがとうございます。
Yes, I agree with you.
It is important independent study for language learners.
Many researches show that, too.

I started out using EU Dict. It's decent because if you don't know the word or only partially hear it, if you get the first few letters right it'll offer suggestions as to how the word ends.

I've recently been relying more on Tanoshii Japanese because it has a wider variety of words (check EU Dict for "kakutougi" (martial arts) for example, it's not there) with more definitions and helpfully conjugates verbs in multiple different ways. It also has the kanji and a kanji breakdown, for those who are interested in that sort of thing.
