How exactly does college work in japan? What level of JLPT do I need to pass to get in? How expensive is it?
Also, If I get a degree here (in the US), can I use it in japan?

I'm not very sure about it, but it should depend on your purpose of study at university.
If you have degree in US and come to Japan, it should be MA or similar, right?
And if you come here for BA, you might need to take "entrance exame" for uni.

There're also some courses for foreign students.
There're university preparation courses too.
