First try at constructing a sentence.

こんにちは。

So now that I have a small arsenal of Japanese vocabulary to unleash upon the world I figured I'd give it a good test run. Critiques, pointing out mistakes, corrections, all very much welcome. Let me have it.
here goes....

こんやおくはカジノにいきます。　　(hopefully translates to: tonight I am going to the casino.)

こんやぼくはギャンブルをカジノにいきます。 (hopefully translates to: tonight I am going to gamble at the casino)


Let me have it!

I believe you wanted to write ぼくは in first sentence, so I'll give you "perfect"
Second one can be;
こんやぼくはカジノにギャンブルにいきます。OR
こんやぼくはギャンブルをしにカジノにいきます。OR even
こんやぼくはカジノでギャンブルをします。

For the second sentence does what I wrote work or do the examples you gave explain the correct way to say it?
I see in the first example you have に twice. I think for some reason I was thinking I couldn't use に twice. Cant explain why I thought that though

I'm not much of a gambler but I figured since I just recently learned　カジノ　and ギャンブル I figured I might as well use something fresh in my mind.

I'll definitely be checking out the Word of the Day forum now as I'm feeling more comfortable actually stringing words together.

Unfortunately the second sentence doesn't quite work.
I know in English (to) gamble is a verb but in Japanese ギャンブル is a noun. I think this applies to all 外来語 (foreign imported words). To make it back into a verb again you need to add する。 Either of :
ギャンブルする
ギャンブルをする
奈津子さん's used the second form, conjugated, for her last two sentences.

に is used to point out time, location, direction etc in a sentence, so if your sentence has more than one of these then it'll also have more than one に. Same with で.

Just so I have it straight,　をし is をする? And する is used to make a noun (and most foreign imported words) a verb?

Do those work?

I'm pretty terrible at understanding my own language's grammar rules so I have a feeling I'm going to struggle with proper placement of things:D

Sorry, I don't think I was quite clear.

You're right that をし comes from をする but it's this (をし) conjugated form that you need when using it with に行きます. That's just the rules I'm afraid. Specifically you need the ます stem of the verb. So for する for example, the basic conjugations are:

します - (will) do
しています - doing
しました - did
しません - won't do

You've probably seen those before. Take the first one, します, remove ます to get the stem, し. This stem is the basis for many other combinations too so it's useful. Then add the にいきます。ー＞しにいきます。It's the equivalent in English of combining to go with to do - to go to the casino to gamble.

It works with other verbs to. e.g. みる to see/watch. The stem is just み so you get みにいきます
えいがをみにいきます。(I) went to watch a film.

What I hadn't realized until I read 奈津子さん's second example was that you could insert more bits of sentence between しに and いきます.

Yes, the first sentence I gave you have に twice; first one in カジノに shows "direction", so "to Casino",
and the second one in ギャンブルに describes "purpose", meaning "to (do) gamble".
