Saa?

Postby bryce2555760 » August 9th, 2011 1:34 pm

Hi

I know what 'saa' means at the beginning of a sentence, meaning well.

But I have heard quite allot of Japanese people say 'saa' mid-sentence.

What does this mean and how do you use it? Examples would be great:)

Thank you

It's just a pause-filler. Pretty common with young people in Kantou, I believe. Can quickly become tedious though, especially coupled with なんか. You can use ね instead, as well, but it has more of a nuance of keeping the listener involved.
