and what's role for compound word like
gaku+kou=gakkou
isshhoni

Rendaku refers to the optional voicing of a consonant when readings are combined, like

日々 ひび

So gakkou (がっこう) doesn't show rendaku. I don't remember the name, if there is one, for that type of combination. It's irregular, but a good book might have some rules. I'll take a look and see what I can find.
