Need some help with some Japanese sentences!

Postby cherie8973 » January 3rd, 2011 3:37 am

Hey guys, I came across these expressions/sentences in the Minna no Nihongo textbook and I am not very sure about them.

1. 年を取ったら、運転しません

2 A: 日本の経済はどうなるんでしょうか。
  B: そうですね。まだしばらくよくならないでしょう。

Thanks in advance! :)

When I get old, I won't drive / I won't drive when I'm old.

年を取る = to age, to get old
運転する = to drive

A: What's going to happen to the Japanese economy?
B: Well, it probably won't improve for some time.

どうなる = what will happen ([lit] how will (it) become)
でしょうか = I wonder (can be used as a polite version of ですか because it's less direct).
よくなる = get better ([lit] become good)
