Eh... Confirmation of a translation..

I'm trying to translate this into english.

'Kanashimi ni nureta tsuki ga shizukani'

Here's what I got so far.

Kanashimi = sadness
nureta = wet (past form)
tsuki = moon
shizukani = quiet

I dunno if this translation makes sense but here's my result: "The wet moon towards sadness is quiet."

I know there's something wrong here, so can anyone explain how this sentence should be in English?

I think it would be something like "The moon that has gotten wet in sadness is quietly" ...doing something. There's no verb here but it's pretty common for Japanese to omit stuff like that (especially since this sounds like it's out of a poem or a song)

Because shizuka or shizuka na is "quiet". If you add ni, it's an adverb, "quietly".

There's probably a better, more poetical translation for this but since English isn't my first language, I won't be going there

'kanashimi ni nureta' means 'wet with sadness'/'soaked in sadness'.

Anywho it helps if you give the whole phrase. kanashimi ni nureta tsuki ga shizuka ni daichi wo akaku akaku somete kieru. So, we've already established that the moon is all drenched in sadness or whatever. And this moon is quietly gonna do something. And that is, apparently, dyeing the land quite red, and vanishing. Hmm. Can't say I've ever seen that sort of moon before.
