A grammar question in Lower Intermediate #23

There is a sentence in this lesson. 二日酔いってやつ, I think I know the meaning the from the translation given, but I don't know what やつ mean? May someone explain. Thanks.

hey waterman I am not exactly sure what the rest of the context is but I imagine someone was explaining their condition of feeling sick from drinking so much and then the person replied with the proper name of futsukayoi. As far as I know in this situation yatsu is used to mean the same thing as mono or koto.. basically its a thing. I often here yatsu when someone is explaining more information about something or when they are having trouble giving the proper name for something and are describing it with other words. Yatsu is used a lot in casual conversation. If it was a more formal situation I think that person might use mono instead. Anyway that's the best I can give you for my feeling of the word.

It is very casual like Mieth said, and it can show disdain as well, especially when used about people. You might translate something like やっぱ、ヤツがきやがったな as 'that b**tard came (as I thought he would) '. So in this case, the speaker might be expressing his/her displeasure at having a hangover, but it's hard to say without seeing the context.
