Postby chojoan » August 16th, 2009 3:38 pm

i’m new here….as I was reading the PDF i was looking at the japanese writing and i noticed that it looks like some words are written in kana and some in hiragana…when studying the written form i guess it’s a must to know both rigth?

Yes, it's a must to know both when studying Japanese :) If you want to be fully literate you need to add kanji to that too, but when first starting out mastering the hiragana and katakana are your first priority.
