Japanese School

Postby xicidis » October 12th, 2008 10:58 pm

Hello everyone.

I am trying my hardest to learn Japanese, but I don't know many people that speak it. I live in Las Vegas, Nevada, and one would think that the college here would have Japanese as a major, not so much.

I would like to go to Japan and study, but that costs quite a bit of money. I don't have a degree, which would take another year and a half or so, and I don't really want to finish that degree. I would love to get a degree in Japanese Language and Art, but there aren't any schools here for anything like that.

Any ideas? I would LOVE to go to school in Japan, or do anything at all in that line. Anyone have any suggestions? Peter-san? Any ideas that could help?

Been there, done that, plan on doing it again. :) You can't get around it being expensive, though it does beat moving to Tokyo. I can feel your pain insofar as not having anyone to talk to, but that's kind of the price you pay for wanting to study a language that is primarily spoken in only one part of the world. I would strongly advise finishing your degree in Nevada before pursuing further education in Japan, because while it isn't difficult to attend language schools, to pursue additional education in Japan a degree would be a good thing to have.
