Japanese TV on demand

In the UK a few TV networks have started online services that allow you to catch up on episodes you've missed, as well as adding archived shows. I was wondering if any of the major Japanese networks have something similar. It'd be good to watch some up-to-date, mainstream shows so conveniently. I don't know any of the networks or what to query with Google, so I thought I'd ask here.

It is called "Ondemand TV". Some companies provide this kind of service in Japan.
However, it is difficult to catch up with episodes of current programs.
They only provide past programs.
