You know you are addicted to learning Japanese when...

...you can't resist reading the Japanese version menu in a Japanese restaurant and speak Japanese to the waiters there.

... you set your system clock to Japanese because you think(土)looks so much better than "Sat."

... you read your most recent favorite manga, and decide to order the entire series in it's original Japanese so you know you aren't missing anything.

I need to start learning Korean so I can do that with the series Hanami: An International Love Story. Right now, I'm starting to read +Anima in it's original form. I have read Mahou Sensei Negima in it's original thru +21 (I'm waiting on the order including the limited edition #22 to arrive from YesAsia).

Don't forget Kanken DS and Kanken2. :) I have no games for my DS, just kanji programs.

Well, if you don't have the kanken, I'd recommend just getting the kanken2. :)

... you've got your hotmail account and Word both set to Japanese, even though it takes you three hours to work out how to remove page numbers from a document.

... you write your shopping list in Japanese, and read all your receipts on the way home from the shops, checking for 'interesting' kanji.

...you feel disappointed when the staff in a restaurant address you in English and proudly bring you the English menu. (I'll admit, I've pretended not to speak English, just so I can use Japanese.)

.. you have to replace the batteries in your electronic dictionary once a month.

...you miss your stop on the train because you are so engrossed in reading one of the advertising posters inside the carriage.

You must be in Japan. If you are there, it has become a necessity.

Looking at your userinfo on the left of your post, Takonomoさん, I can see you're in Japan. Sadly for me, I'm not. However, I really like the idea of writing my shopping list in Japanese! I am a newbie, just now mastering hiragana ; writing my shopping lists in Japanese seems like it would be a great way to practice my handwriting , internalize the characters and pick up some new words simultaneously.

Great tip! ありがと!

You know you are addicted to studying Japanese when you look forward to taking taxis just because you've got a captive native speaker who has no choice but to speak to you.

oh, and this one:
You know you are addicted to studying Japanese when you text your non-japanese friends in japanese.

... you sit in front of the game "Rock Band" at a demo display and wait around for the cycle to repeat because you swear you just saw the character 「超」in the background somewhere.

I know, it's sad.
