Questions on おく

Postby sven » April 7th, 2008 2:51 am

I often hear oku used with verb combinations a lot.In intermediate lesson 38 the real estate agent says わたしにまかせておけばかならずいいへやみつかるよ。Could that sentence work without oku? and just makasete alone?
any thoughts or different examples with oku would be appreciated.
thanks

まかせる and おく kind of go together as a team, sort of like the "leave it" in "leave it to me," however there is nothing grammatically wrong with saying まかせば. However since the sentence is conditional you still need to keep some form of ば in there.
