Need help for a verb

Postby Ryokushin » March 7th, 2008 4:33 pm

Hi everyone, this is my first post here. First I just wanna say that japanesepod101.com is amazing!!! Thank you so much to the creator!

I need your help on finding a name for a martial art forum, wich will be in french by the way.

So i'm looking for a single word that can mean, to talk, to exchange, to discuss. A word that can be the name of a discussion forum.

This is a project that I care alot about, thank you very much for your help.

You're looking for a Japanese word, right? It kind of depends on what mood you're going for.

"Kaiwa" (会話) is a good basic Japanese word for conversation. "Hanashi" (話) is another.
"Zatsudan" (雑談) means something like chit chat. Katakana versions of "lounge" and "salon" are sometimes used in Japanese forums.

I just found something on edict that might be good. 土俵 (Dohyou) can mean a forum for discussion, but it's original meaning is the dirt arena that sumo wrestlers compete in. Since it originally relates to a martial art and has a double meaning as a forum, I think this would be a perfect name. But that's up to you.

Zakojanai, thanks alot for your suggestions and for your help. This is much appreciated.

I really like Dohyou, you are right, it can be very good for a forum name.

Thanks again!!
