Lower Intermediate Lesson #17: Grammar help

結婚するって。そんな。そうさせるつもりはなかった。とめないといけない。
The English translation given in the PDF was, She said she is getting married! Just like that! I didn't think it would happen like this. I have to stop her.

Can someone explain to me the grammar and the meaning behind this sentence.
そうさせるつもりはなかった。

I would translate そうさせるつもりはなかった　as "I didn't intend to cause her to get married" (I haven't checked, but it's one of the postcard lessons, right ?)

させる is the causative of する,and means "to have someone do something"; そう
here stands for "such a thing", つもり means "to intend to" (formation is verb plain form +つもり／い-adjective + つもり/な-adjective + な +つもり/noun + の + つもり), here in the past form ("I didn't intend to")

So the wole sentence means "I didn't mean (by my past messages, see other "postcards" lessons) to cause her to get married" (since he's getting married, she feels she's free to go and get married herself...)

My grammar book says that つもり can be negated in 2 ways :

- negating the verb/adjective before つもり
- leaving the verb/adjective in the affirmative, and negating つもり in つもりはない.

It seems the second negation, which is used here, has a stronger meaning.
