explain this line to me please!

right ok let me explain i watch alot of japanese tv shows n i keep hearing the line:

"nani kore" can some one explain im guessing its something along the lines of what the hell? because of the situations ive seen it used in. E.G guy falls of a self tipping chair guy responds with NANI KORE!

"What the hell?" is a pretty good translation. Literally it means "What's this?", but it is generally used in situations of surprise or disgust. The level of emotion determines whether or not you would expect an expletive to be inserted in the middle - What the **** is this?
