When introducing yourself, is it better to...

...pronounce your name as you would in your native language, or pronounce it in Japanese as a katakana word? (Sorry if this has been asked a million times already.)

I think it's better to introduce yourself using your real English name.

Then, if someone doesn't understand you can katakana-ize it.

I always pronouce mine in my normal accent, then when they ask to clarify I say it in katakana style. Afterall, my name IS Bucko, not "bakkou".
