stroke order for yo in hiragana

Postby carlton » July 8th, 2007 5:07 am

Does the small horizontal stroke in a hiragana yo go left-to-right or right-to-left? One source I've seen shows one way, another shows the other way. Are both directions normal, or is one of them wrong?

Normally, horizontal first, left-to-right.

But whatever. I normally "dot" my 'i' before I even write the line. It doesn't really matter.

I agree on the L to R.
You can tell by looking at the characters if it was written "incorrectly"; but, my students have horrible stroke order on kanji, so yeah, don't worry about it too much.

i write "mo" wrong. i don't know if i learned it incorrectly, but even though i know i write it wrong, i can't change it.

Click the hiragana to play the movie. Check the side for katakana.

Enjoy!

Thanks for the responses. Yeah, I know it's no big deal in the grand scheme of things, but if I'm going to be spending a lot of time writing vocabulary cards for myself, I figure it's just as easy to learn to do it the right way as the wrong way. (If there is one.) Anyways, sounds (and looks - thanks for the video link!) like left-to-right for me!
