nani kara nani made

Postby docmac » March 21st, 2007 1:59 am

Howdy. I'm new to the forum, so "please be kind to me as I will be to you" (god, I love hearing Peter say that...it's such a bizarre phrase)...
Anyway
I heard the phrase "nani kara nani made" in an anime (Ergo Proxy), translated as "you've thought of everything". Can anyone give me any insight into this phrase...it kind of feels like one of those 4 kanji sayings. Any help would be appreciated.
Arigatou...

Hi docmac, nice to have you aboard.
I checked it out and found it listed in my dictionary:

何から何まで - Anything and everything.
何から何までありがとうございます - Thank you for everything.
仕入れ、販売、営業と何から何まで彼女一人でこなしている - Stocking, marketing, sales - she handles everything on her own.

And examples from Space ALC - http://tinyurl.com/ytglzf

Nice phrase. Actually, I didn't know it, so I'll try to use it today...

WOW, fast and totally helpful reply...thanks very much. Actually looks like a pretty usable phrase. And the SpaceALC link looks like it can be a lot of fun...
Thanks again, and hope to be an active part of the community (I FINALLY caught up with the podcasts TODAY....after almost a year of being two months behind...)
Thanks agan from the wilds of Texas...
