How do you say Happy Birthday in Nihongo?

Postby Juando » February 22nd, 2007 3:54 am

My Birthday is this friday and I want to wish myself a happy birthday in Japanese, how do I say it? And just out of curiousity, how does a typical japanese celebrate his birthday in Japan? Do they just go out and get rip roaring drunk like they do here in the States?

I think it depends on the person. For example, my girlfriend does not celebrate with her family but with friends. She does not drink much so I just took her to a Macaronni Grill on a military base. We had about 15 of her friends there. So I think most Japanese like to spend their birthday's with their friends.
Of me I like to spend with friends and I rarley drink, so I think that it depends on the person.

Can someone translate that into Romanji. I'm sorry, I'm still a total noob when it comes to Nihongo. Gomen nasai!!
