Past Progressive Tense question

Hey all,

My class just got into learning the resultant state and I was wondering how to make the past progressive tense such as:

I have been busy.

My attempt at it was:
いそがしくていました。 (Pretty sure this is wrong, however)

Or is it better to be specific in such a situation and say something like:
先週からずっといそがしくています。

Any insight would be greatly welcomed. Thanks!

AFAIK, the Japanese never use past progressive for adjectives.

Just 忙しい (if you are still busy) or 忙しかった (if you were busy, but no longer are).
