iPhone Update Problems with iBook PDF

Postby teflteacherdave7426 » November 2nd, 2012 5:32 am

As the subject says...

I just updated my iPhone to iOS6 and now have obvious issues with all the PDF files while viewing in iBook.

All the KANJI and KANA sections are simply blank, in all the files. Zero Japanese. Everything else is the same: the English, the layout, design, but all the Japanese is gone.

I deleted the podcasts, resubscribed, but the issue persists. Is anyone else having this problem? I am a paying member, and frankly, without the PDF files to view on my phone it is worthless.

This is a known problem with iOS 6. It affects any PDF containing Japanese characters; it's not just the JapanesePod101 PDFs.

The recommended work-around until Apple fix the problem is to install Adobe Reader and use that to view PDF files.

Can anyone please advise: How do you actually get PDF files from Ibook to Adobe? Or, from itunes on my desktop directly to Adobe?

When I go to "books" in itunes I can't see the PDF files, only actual books.

Hi,

When you open the iBooks application, you can select the type of media on the top of the application. Please select PDF there, then you'll be able to see the PDF Files. If you'd like to move it into another application, please open the PDF first, then click 'Open In...' icon on the right top of the screen.

Thank you,

Jae
