in the video below, nokaze-san ends a lot of sentences with something weird and then a "su" sound. i tried reading about humble, honorific, etc. styles of speaking but it didn't seem to be related to any of those as far as i could tell.

i realize this is probably not a very common way to speak, i'm just curious.

Never heard that before.
Sounds like a contracted form of あります, similar to how people sometimes contract です to っす, or ありがとうございます! to あざっす!
It's no doubt archaic Japanese.

Hi there! I took a look at the clip, and what she's saying is ーでありんす. You're both right in that this is a totally obsolete archaic form (of であります). It was used only by the prostitutes of the Yoshiwara district (a red-light entertainment district) during the Edo period, and apparently, according to a Japanese source I found, it was originally designed to disguise the "bumpkin" accents/dialects a lot of the prostitutes brought with them from their country villages. Fascinating!

this was the first drama i ever watched. my listening comprehension has improved a lot since then xD
