Easy-peasy question?

Postby iaai » July 18th, 2010 8:52 am

かいとう means a reply or a solution right?
Can someone tell me the difference between the readings of 回答 and 解答?
They both mean roughly the same thing..and they sound the same.. confusing. :?

What do you mean, they sound like basically the same thing? A reply and a solution are different. They can both be described in English as 'an answer', but they're still different ideas.

Notice the kanji involved. 解答 features 解, which is also used in words like 解る and 解く. Does that clear things up?

回答 is to 質問 as 解答 is to 問題
