Please help describing Kanji

Postby japchinman12 » November 30th, 2009 7:29 am

I just wanted to know whats a proper way to tell someone what the Kanji is for something.. Maybe a name or something else..

Like.
I was having a conversation with someone and said I learned some 擬音語 and 擬態語。

and they never heard of these words. how can i say it proper to tell them what the kanji are because I cannot remember how to write them completely .

Like can I say: "擬態語の漢字は「擬装」の「擬」と「昏睡状態」の「態」と「英語」の「語」です。”
さらに擬音語の「音」は「音楽」の「音」です。

Your sentences actually sound fine!
In place of と, though, I often hear に:

最中(もなか)の漢字は「最中」の「最」に「最中」の「中」です

I'm sure と works just as well but I hear に a lot when explaining things like this.

And you also might want to stick to simple phrases: For example, 「状態」の「態」 is easier to understand than 「昏睡状態」の「態」
