Hey everyone!

I was wondering if anyone ever refers to a single friend as "tomo/友" ? As i know you can use 友達 to refer to just one person - which seems strange as 達 is present?

Good question - even though the plural 達 is part of the word, it can used to talk about one friend, or multiple friends. It's not shortened to 友 when talking about one friend, although there are some phrases that use the word 友:

メール友 - like a pen pal in that you only know them and correspond with them through e-mail :D
