Emailing my 先生

I was wondering what are the most appropriate opening
and closing greetings that I should use when emailing my
Japanese teacher.

My teacher never complained about this, so maybe you can try:


先生，

...
...

では，また今度，
(your name)

The "official" proper way to start a letter is with:

拝啓[name goes here]

There's another "official" phrase to close a letter, but I can never remember it.

敬具 is the closing one, but from my understanding to use the haikei... keigu pair is quite formal, and more suited towards a full professional business letter rather than a quick note to one's Japanese teacher. Though I'm certainly not an authority on the subject, starting your letter with 「名」先生（へ） and closing it with よろしくお願い(します／いたします) seems plenty polite enough.

If you'd like to know more-- why not ask in your e-mail? The recipient is a Japanese teacher, after all!
