once a week i have 2h japanese lessons.

I had to skip the second lesson 'cause of a bad cold last week.

Funny thing is the sensei tryed to call me after the lesson,
that's not realy common in german school

Next wednesday i would like to excuse myselve in japanese...

Someting like:
Sorry for my absence last week, i had a bad cold.

could you help me with the translation?

i would just keep it simple.

先週はすみませんでした。風邪をひいてしまったんです。
senshuu wa sumimasen deshita. kaze wo hiite shimatta n desu.
"sorry about last week. i caught a cold."

would something like that work for you?

As we are all learners, I have no argument with you posting your own attempts at producing a phrase appropriate for the situation. However, please don't try to pass off a sentence like that as something genuinely correct to say. Though it's transparent to those of us with some degree of proficiency, it could be very misleading for beginners.

ために is used to express purpose, so it's not always equivalent to the English 'for'. It means 'for the purpose of, for the benefit of', or when describing uncontrollable situations 'owing to, because'. 先週 is neither a cause nor a reason, so Marky's version is better because it simply introduces 先週 as the topic of the following apology.

The て-form of 行く is 行って, it's a rare exception as you're probably aware. However, the て-form can't be used before a nominaliser. In the case of ことができる, the verb should be in the plain non-past form.

What the ん does in Marky's excuse is indicate that it's an explanation for the preceding apology, and adds the nuance of 'the reason is that...'. So again, his version is more suitable.

I run into so many people who just assume they know everything, and go about their own little social networks strutting this arrogant I'm fluent in Japanese attitude. It gets on my nerves sometimes. I misinterpreted and I apologize for that.

At any rate, another use for ため is expressing cause. While 先週のために doesn't fit the situation, 病気のため would mean "due to illness." Other uses I've seen are 雨のため "due to the rain" and 地震のため "due to the earthquake." Sometimes ため is also written 為.

@Psy; I Havent Actually Been Taught It Properly Seeing As Its 2 Year Levels Above My Own But I Have Used It Before And Obviously Since It Doesnt Make Sense In This Situation I Should Learn it Abit More Before I Use It Again. I Was Taught It As "For". Like... I WenT Shopping For My Dads Birthday Or Somethign Like That.
