Three Warm Sugar? Translation help please!

I'm trying to make a recipe and it calls for one teaspoon of 三温糖. I know it has to be some sort of sugar, but I can't find an exact translation for this anywhere. It's only a teaspoon so if I guess wrong it won't be a big deal, but if someone can tell me what they're calling for, I'd be very grateful!

OK, I've done some web sleuthing and by googling san-on-tou I tracked down a picture of a bag clearly labeled 三温糖. It's called "Japanese Brown Sugar" on the site. So now I can get what I need, but I'm still curious about the origin of the "three warm sugar" name.
