The word for "almighty"

Postby SkyDiver » November 1st, 2007 7:11 am

Hi!
What's the japanese word for "almighty" in the sense of "almighty god", or "almighty creature"? Is it zenno? But in this case "almighty god" would be pronounced "zenno no kami". Isn't it suppose to be an adjective?

thanks

i'm not sure if you can use "kami" just like that to say "God". coz kami on it's own means "hair" i think (that's what my girlfriend told me). usually people say "kami sama" (with the honorific stuff at the end).

maybe zenno kami sama? i'm just guessing on this one.

Yeah, I know I left sama out, but was wondering how you conjugate the adjective for almighty.

全能の神様 is grammatically correct, although I have no idea if anyone actually uses this expression. It might be easier to think of 全能 as "omnipotence", since it does function as a noun.

Note that Jim Breen's WWWJDIC lists 全能 as a な-adjective. I think this is incorrect, but I have no hard evidence, only google search numbers.
