What is this japanese word?

Postby rcdailey9335 » December 30th, 2013 3:33 am

I was watching this clip on youtube of One Piece (a rather funny one) and the translation of what Luffy says is "They have been grabbed!", but I'm not able to figure out exactly what he says in Japanese. It sounds like he says "niigata" but I google this and it doesn't find anything related to what the translated text shows.

Anyone have an idea? The link is below and should start you off at the 0:47 mark:

Can anyone help me figure out what he's saying in Romaji? Thanks!

rcdailey9335-san,
I'm sorry, but I have no idea.
I listened to it several times now and tried to understand the story too, but
it doesn't make sense. It sounded like "nigeta" (= someone escaped) but this totally doesn't
make sense. I'm not following this manga, but it could be some special expression this
person uses in the manga which is a created language, not real.

I think it means Franky's 'balls' have escaped.

逃げた > nigeta > plain past of nigeru - to escape.

Ha ha ha. I looked it up and I believe it comes from this saying:

人の金玉を握る。
ひとのきんたまをにぎる。

”To grab someone by his vulnerable spot" (ie.金玉=Balls).

Luffy just says the verb part though, because it is obvious what he is talking about.
