空ける (akeru: to empty; to clear away; to make space for)

The okurigana are identical here. That is, if you see 空ける standing alone, you won’t know whether to read it as utsukeru or akeru. Let’s hope you’ll only find it embedded in a sentence in which the context tells you everything!
