Counting Geta

Another thing about geta—if you want to count them (and I know you do!), you’ll need the counter for pairs of shoes. That would be (-soku). Here’s how to count geta or any other pairs of shoes:

1 pair: 一足 (issoku)
2 pairs: 二足 (nisoku)

For example, 靴一足 (kutsu issoku) is a pair of shoes.

And now that we’ve seen several uses of , I can’t control myself any longer. I need to have a go at combining them in sentences:

一足しかないので、足りません不足があります。を見たら、満足したいです。
