Another thing about geta—if you want to count them (and I know you do!), you’ll need the counter for pairs of shoes. That would be 足 (-soku). Here’s how to count geta or any other pairs of shoes:
1 pair: 一足 (issoku)
2 pairs: 二足 (nisoku)For example, 靴一足 (kutsu issoku) is a pair of shoes.
And now that we’ve seen several uses of 足, I can’t control myself any longer. I need to have a go at combining them in sentences:
靴一足しかないので、足りません。不足があります。足を見たら、満足したいです。
While we’re at it, let’s make it a quiz of sorts! You’ll find the yomi and meanings at the next link.
So … am I satisfied, now that I’ve had my 足 spree? Oh, if only it took so little to satisfy me!
