Soothing Symmetry

When combines with other symmetrical kanji, they result in compounds that are curiously calming to see:

賛意 (san’i: approval, assent)     to approve of + mind
合意 (gōi: agreement, consent, mutual understanding)
     to agree + mind
基本合意 (kihon-gōi: basic agreement)
base + basis + to agree + mind

The first two kanji, 基本 (kihon), form a word meaning “basis.”

Interestingly, all these words are about getting along with others, which restores balance to life. They look balanced, and they are about balance. How satisfying is that?!
