Not So Fast

One could read 意図 as mind + map! That is, an intention might be a map of the mind!

Unfortunately, Halpern says that in 意図 merely means “intention.” In fact, he says the in 意図 also means “intention,” as well as “(having a) mind to do something.”

So intention + intention = intention? Phooey.
