意中の人 (ichū no hito: one’s beloved, the one in one’s thoughts)
mind + to be absorbed in + ‘s + person
You can’t apply this word to everyone you love—not even to your spouse. Nor can you use it for your beloved Aunt Frieda, Aunt Ethel, Uncle Norman, or Cousin Minerva. (All these nebbish names—and so many more—actually come from my family.) The term is apt for someone beyond your circle of intimates, someone to whom you’d like to draw closer but who still remains at a distance. This may apply to a person you’d like to date and even to someone you’d like to hire. In either case, the important thing is that you believe the person would perfectly suit your needs, fulfill your hopes, and realize your fantasies. Yeah, Aunt Frieda is definitely out.
