今週中 (konshūjū: throughout this week; konshūchū: within this week)
Controversy swirls around this compound; my sources disagree about the yomi of 今週中. One textbook seems to indicate that konshūjū and konshūchū have interchangeable meanings, but the text is unclear; maybe the authors mean that konshūjū indicates the full span of the week, whereas konshūchū refers to a specific point in the week.
Jim Breen’s online dictionary provides konshūchū as the sole yomi, along with the definition “all this week.” I tend to regard Breen’s website as highly accurate, but in this case I think his dictionary must be incorrect.
I’ve decided to abide by the wisdom of a native speaker who tells me that if something continues throughout a week, konshūjū is the right yomi, whereas if something happens at a particular point in the week, konshūchū is the one to use.
