| Today, we are going to review N1 Kanji. |

| This kanji means “superfluous, uselessness”. |
| The on-reading 音読み (on’yomi) for this kanji is ジョウ (jō) like in 冗談 (jōdan) which means “joke”. |
| 冗談を言う。(Jōdan o iu.) “say a joke”. 稲を植えてきた。(Ine o uete kita.) いいね～。(Ii nē.) |
| And 冗費 (jōhi) which means “unnecessary expenses”. |
| We don’t need this much. 冗費削減。(Jōhi sakugen.) |
| This kanji means “crown, best, peerless”. |
| The on-reading 音読み (on’yomi) for this kanji is カン (kan) like in 王冠 (ōkan) which means “the crown”. |
