Japanese text speak?

So like I know in the U.S. when people are texting, tweeting, etc. They sometimes talk like this
"hey, whatch u doin. I totes loved your hair this morning, oh brb. Oh nvr mind gtg. Ttyl." Lol u get the picture.
But I was wondering if Japanese people had there own version of this. If they do what is it like?

konnichiwa!
No, we don't really have text-message language in Japanese.
We might use more face marks using many different symbols, which are
different from English face marks. :D

OK. That makes sense. I can imagine Japanese would be a lot harder to understand in something like that since you can't really shorten kanji can you? lol
