This is mostly true for older people. In 3 years living there I never met a person under 50 who had that kind of attitude.

yea that tends to happen in every culture, eh?

but I really meant more like just a casual comment, not something that's obviously meaning that you want it. almost like your admiring that persons taste.

hmm, old people? old people in japan seem like they're very strict on manners and decency and from what i've heard, a little grumpy about respect.

I hope this is just a stereotype and not a big thing?
