Flashcards are back up and working.

Not for me. I'm using Google Chrome and all I get is a loading icon that spins for what seems infinity. 10 to 20 minutes later I have to use the back button to get to where I can use the site at all.

Any idea when the Flashcard will be functional again?

It might be on your end. They are definitely working for me.

I was running it on an iPad on Safari, but I am now running on Google Chrome "Version 23.0.1271.95 m" on Windows 7 and Flashcards are working on both systems.

I finally got it to work for my existing decks on Google Chrome.. but I have another flashcard problem.

Previously, when I have finished a lesson I click on the vocabulary flashcard link on the lesson page and it imports the deck into my flashcards. I have a small desk for each lesson. However, when I clicked on the link for lesson 11 there is no deck for lesson 11.

Am I doing something wrong here?

Thanks for posting! Can you let us know what series the Lesson 11 you are talking about is for? Also, are you able to add other new decks and just not that one, or can you not add any new ones at all?

Question: Is this kind of extended downtime some kind of scheduled maintenance? If so:
1. Why not warn us in advance to avoid this frustration?
2. Really? >24 hours for some kind of maintenance that forces the entire system offline?

If not:
1. Is the system really so fragile? Can I trust it with my long-term SRS data?

Surely there's some combination of technical and PR expertise not being adequately applied here?

To clarify my previous: I just get the "eternal spinner icon" in My Flashcards, running Google Chrome Version 23.0.1271.95 m.

So it's been down for at least 24 hours now.

As I tend to study several times a day, it's frustrating. I'm going to come back to several hundred due cars when (if) it comes back up.

Same for me. Yesterday maintenance message, today eternal spinner.

Would be nice to let some IT-people handle this. I have had a 25 year career in IT and I don't remember any of my systems to be unavailable for more than 12 hours.

I did some additional tests. On my Mac it isn't working neither with Safari nor with Chrome. But Windows 7 + Firefox seems to be okay. I always thought, Japanesepod101 would be a Mac shop?

But, as the previous poster says, all of my Flashcards data bar two decks appears to have disappeared.

My decks contained 9 months worth of Japanese language study and around 2000 vocabulary items.

I trust you are not serious.

What is the deal, please, Technical Support?

You haven't actually lost the data? When will it be restored?

Same here, all my decks are gone. All I have now are the Core 100. I would hate to have to start the process all over again by losing all my progress.

Same for me I had the vast majority of the Core 2000 down along with various other words from lessons, most worked out to at the 1.5 year interval. I can't even imagine how many hours went into learning them, starting over would be horrible.
