Japanese movie/TV torrent site?

Postby totsubo » August 10th, 2009 1:44 am

I'm looking to improve my listening and pick up some vocab by watching Japanese TV dramas (and possibly movies). Can anyone recommend a torrent site for these?

Unfortunately most of the big 'western' torrent site don't have many Japanese movies and almost no Japanese TV dramas.

Thanks!

For dramas, D-Addicts is the only site you'll ever need :D

Thanks!

I can definitely use some suggestions too!

The search function for the site is down though ... How can I find stuff?

Oh, and for suggestions I'd love pointers to torrents that bundle all episodes so I can download the whole series in one go. If possible :)

And for anything recent that hasn't finished the season yet I'm happy to download one episode a week as they come up :)

There is a whole variety of Jdramas out there, so if you let me know what genres you are into (comedy, romance, human drama, etc) then I can think of some recommendations!

If you use the filter next to the search box, you can filter out everything but the J-dramas so that only those will show. To look for torrents that contain full series, you might want to try putting the word "complete" into the search box and see what comes up. By the way, I tried the search box right now and it works for me - so try using it again!

You're right, the search works fine.

I'm mostly going to use this to practice listening and pick up Japanese expressions and some new vocab so looking for shows that are fun but not too complicated :)

Romance is always good and so is comedy :)

hI Totsubo,

Go to www.thepiratebay.net and do a search for japan or japanese. I've downloaded some very good, old and new Japanese movies from this site.

For romance dramas, try some of Kimura Takuya's dramas - Beautiful Life, Long Vacation, Good luck! (I haven't seen all of them so I'm not sure if they're all romance dramas, but they are among the most popular J-dramas!)

Some of my personal favorites are Densha Otoko (comedy), 1 Litre of Tears (human drama), Kuitan (detective/comedy), Last Friends (human drama)..

Hope you find something good :D

The Pirate Bay is a horrible place to get Japanese TV dramas. And as for movies not much better either.

There is some stuff but the search interface is pretty simplistic making it really hard to find things.

D-Addict looks like a much better suggestion!

Here is a Japanese tracking site I like to use.
It links to all the video sites around the world.

This site seems to only track sites that *stream* videos. Useful for some people for sure, but I am looking for torrents.

I'd like to get some ideas about what's good. So far I've kept the "Lost Time Life" series. I highly recommend that one.

BTW, if you want to work on listening, I suggest downloading the RAW versions of all shows. More often than not, most will have English subtitles that you can't turn off. If you find one that has soft subs (ie - a text file that can be loaded) those are good to get also since you can always turn the subtitles off.

On a side note, I'm a big Tamura Masakazu fan, and would love to find his movie called Last Love. Does anyone know where I can get this?
