recommend an anime series?

i think i already ran out of animes to recommend.. lol.. everything that i like has already been said.. oh, wait.. slamdunk (very funny, one of my all time faves, check out the manga too!) and detective conan...

oh yea! slamdunk is good... but sadly only like 2/3 of it made it to singapore.... the remaining 1/3 never stepped on singapore soil.

i love jungle wa hale nochi guu and azumanga daioh! two very whacky and crazy anime.

Inuyasha!! I love anything by Rumiko Takahashi. The only sad part is that the Anime ended abruptly. Hopefully they will restart it once the manga is complete, which should be soon.

"Monster" has a lot of polite Japanese.
"Welcome to NHK" has lots of cultural references and useful vocabulary..
"Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei" has lots of kanji and challenging vocabulary.

Therese are all mature and quite good in their own right.

"Gintama" is rather juvenile, but very clever; with lots of satire, puns, slang and off-beat cultural references.
"Death Note" is also juvenile and maybe not so clever. But it's easy to follow, with lots of useful vocabulary and sentence structures.

"Cowboy Beebop" and "Samurai Champloo" are just simply awesome anime and you should watch them for the fun of it.

I can only recommend Neon Genesis Evangelion - surely not an anime for (smaller) children! The idea behind it is pretty sick, but indeed an awesome anime!

Am I the only one, who doesn't get Ghost In The Shell? I really don't get it, so I stopped watching it.
I've watched a bit of Hellsing too - cool... Unfortunately my brother took the series with him when he moved T__T

I can recommend Future Boy Conan very highly. It's early Miyazaki. From 1978. Great story and characters. I am also watching Monster which is quite good. Black Lagoon is also good, but it takes a few episodes to kick in.

Am I the only one, who doesn't get Ghost In The Shell? I really don't get it, so I stopped watching it.

I didn't really follow it the first time I tried to watch it. But I paid far more attention the second time around and had a much easier time. Never seen SAC though, the DVDs are always too expensive to warant an impulse buy.

- Got to back up Evangelion. I really enjoyed it - although the ending is a rather love it or hate it prospect.
- Also agreed on Naruto. I avoided it for years because of the badly edited version of the dub that plays on Jetix UK, I finally caved a few weeks ago and bought the DVDs and found I'd completely misjudged it.
- Outside of anime you might want to try some Kamen Rider. Don't watch it myself but apparently it can be pretty deep. I'd also suggest certain Sentai shows but that might be stretching it a bit far.

I'm surprised only a couple of people have mentioned Naruto... However, since Shippuden,(sp?) the series has been notoriously filler-ridden.

well my main 2 favourites are Full Metal Alchemist and Naruto, but i would also suggest Heat Guy J, Tokyo Underground, and She: The Ultimate Weapon.

Theres a magazine in the UK called Manga Force that i got the last 3 from, and loads of other brilliant films
