Yet another request...more like a guess

Postby Trav_man » October 3rd, 2007 12:08 pm

I was taking a guess at how my name would be pronounced.
Travis Carlson
To ra bi su Ka ro so n
Close? I did my family too.
Betsy
Be te shi

Nathan
Na ta n

Zelda
Ze ra da

Ezra
E za ra

Am I close? Any correction would be appreciated? Sorry that it's not in the appropriate kana characters. I've got the japanese language support installed but it doesn't seem to be displaying the kana when I type it out. :ue:

pretty close!
ka-ru-so-n カルソン
travis could either be pronounced as "tray-vis" or "tr-air-vis"
your katakana for travis is for the "tr-air-vis" pronunciation.
to-re-e-bi-su トレービス is for the "tray-vis" pronunciation. you wanna hold the "eh" sound in there... (that's why the extra "e" in between)

Be te shi

be-to-shi ベトシ

Na ta n

ne-sa-n ネサン for the "nay-than" pronunciation.
na-sa-n ナサン if you wanna pronounce it as "nah-than".
Trav_man wrote:Zelda
Ze ra da

ze-ru-da ゼルダ

e-zu-ra エズラ

you're very close! that's good! and i love the names in your family too!

Hi! I'm interested in learning how to pronounce my last name in Japanese.

Russell.

I'm pretty sure my first name (Laura) would be pronounced Ro - ra?

タイラ ファンク - Tyler Funk
pronounced as ta-yi-ra (tyler) fa-n-ku (funk)

ロラ ラセル - Russell Laura (americanized, it would be Laura Russell, where it's last name last)
pronounced as ro-ra (laura) ra-say-ru (russell) but don't emphasize on the "y" in the "say" portion.

but i think i forgot to mention abt the gender specifics. i think it's unisex, i'm not too sure. i'm basing my stand on the following,

girl's name - coz it sounds like karen, or karyn.
guy's name - there was an old manga/anime by akira toriyama (i think that's his name) who drew "dragonball". in it there is a little monk-like character whose name is very close to "kerin". in chinese, it sounds exactly like "kerin". in japanese, he wrote it as "kuririn".

so i guess either guy or girl could use that same name.

Hej Petter!

I think your Japanese name would be

ペター エクバーゴ
PeTaa Ekubaago

But it's difficult to be sure without hearing your name.

Hej Petter!

Du skriver det såhär:
ペ ッテル エ ークベリュ
Petteru Eekuberyu

That's what I think. Maybe: ペ ッテルエ ークベルユ Men jag gissar på den första ;)
