Can we get Jpod101 gratis?

Postby anasaleti35 » May 19th, 2006 6:25 pm

This is my proposal for a free jpod101. Some of the webs have been copied and pasted from what I have found on jpod101 or the links they recommend but you can use any other to make your own jpod and post it here.

Basic learners

Reading:

http://language.tiu.ac.jp/
You can copy and paste a text and a script will make a rough translation. Mozilla rikaichan extension for Japanese readers is better.

http://www.csse.monash.edu.au/~jwb/wwwjdicinf.html
The Tanaka corpus with thousands of example sentences can be found here. “Kanji a day” and the listening sites have also many examples and readings. Simple sentences are a good start and they help to reinforce the grammar points you study but I recommend to “grab” real Japanese as soon as possible, no matter how hard is at the beginning.

Listening:

http://japanese.about.com/blbasic.htm
36 lessons with exercices and audio.

http://www.hickorytech.net/%7Enic111/
Around the first 30 lessons of each group of files

http://japanese.human.metro-u.ac.jp/mic-j/home-e.html
Plenty of videos for basic and intermediate listeners

http://www.ak.cradle.titech.ac.jp/Rise/index.htm
Click on titles or situation and you will get more than 50 comics with sound files and transcripts

I copied and pasted only 4 links but they have dozens of hours to listen. The list of what you can find online would be endless.

Learning center:

http://www.guidetojapanese.org/ Covers the grammar for beginner and intermediate. Maybe a better one is in http://www.nihongoresources.com/

http://www.manythings.org/japanese/news/ For tests

http://www.manythings.org/japanese/jlpt/ For vocabulary exercices of every level

http://www.nuthatch.com/kanjicards/ 500 flashcards

http://www.kantango.com/ or http://www.jlpt-kanji.com/ ,choose whatever you prefere to have a good wordbank.

http://www.kanji-a-day.com/index.php Wordbank, dictionary, example sentences and kanji

Intermediate level

Listening:

http://www.hickorytech.net/%7Enic111/ Last 20 lessons or so of each group of files

http://www.voiceblog.jp/nippon/ Japanese pod for intermediate learners Another one is http://www.njuku.com/

http://opal.ecis.nagoya-u.ac.jp/~jems/h ... ngumi.html A lot of videos for intermediate and advanced learners. The basic section is not so basic.

Reading:

http://www.alc.co.jp/nj/index.html Free bilingual magazine with a subscription section

http://www.yomiuri.co.jp/kyoiku/learning Bilingual editorials of this newspaper. You can read this paper too with the rikaichan extension and a bit of patience.

http://web-japan.org/nipponia/ Magazine about Japan translated into 6 languages. Even the captions can be read in Japanese. In the back number section you will find hundreds of readings about Japan translated into your language.

Learning center:
Most of the links for basic learners will work here too.

Dictionaries

http://www.alc.co.jp/ (this is only an example. The Monash University has a wonderful one gratis)

Culture

http://www8.plala.or.jp/y-naka/jiten.html Visual dictionary just for fun

http://www.alc.co.jp/nj/index.html or http://web-japan.org/nipponia/

http://japanese.about.com/library/weekly/aa101400.htm For idiomatic expressions only

The possibilities are endless (what about writing and speaking?... Skype and penpal webs will work wonderfully but, “kawaisouni” only if you are lucky to find the right person)
