Hello-
I am an artist practicing the traditional textile tradition of shibori and am getting ready to trademark my business name- Shibori GIrl .

I am looking for all possible variations of suitable kanji to express this name which I will then use to create a stylized mark to add to my trademark.

The trademark will be a combination of roman letters and the kanji.

Any help of resource referrals would be appreciated.

I have been a premium member for several years now and really enjoy the lessons. I am traveling to Japan next year on business to study the silk industry and visit to Arimatsu and Narumi.

Shibori Musume 絞り娘　= Musime is literally, usually used to refer to daughter but it also is used for a girl.
絞りガール　Shibori Girl sounds nice too.

I have been doing a little more work on this myself and i think i might go with something very simple like the kanji for "create"

simple, meaning.......to create, to make, to invent, to begin...kinda says it all.

easy to manipulate into a design

alone could you read this kanji as tsukuru? or hajimeru?

I decided that the kanji doesn't have to be a direct translation for the words Shibori Girl but need only be something that relates to what I am doing. I have been a creative designer/maker my whole life and the shibori is a new creative beginning for me.

I found other kanji for this meaning as well but I liked this one best for it's simplicity.
What do you think?

刅 is a really obscure character. It doesn't even show up in some of my dictionaries, or when you try to type any of the words it's associated with in an IME; I can't even find the character used in anything but Chinese through google searches. But even if it was more common, no, it wouldn't be read as any of those words on it's own. All of it's meaning are there, floating around, but it doesn't mean anything specific.

Bran (as in "bran" muffin) + don (shorter "o" than "dawn", closer to "dun")

Mac (as in "macaroni") + Naugh (similar to "gnaw" or "nah", or the first syllable of "naughty") + ton (a shorter "o" than "dawn", sounding closer to "fun")

I don't have any kanji packs in my firefox yet, so all I see right now is "..." and "???" when written Japanese is discussed, so can you post in in the Romanized format, please?

I found my first name easily, which is Ian. and I think in Romaji it is iian - not much changes. However I am curious to know what my surname would be written and spoken. It is an English last name, Barefoot. I think the Japanese word for Barefoot is hadashi, but I'm not sure if it would be translated or simply converted from the English spelling into the Japanese pronunciation.

You're trying to spell them out in kana as you would in roman characters instead of trying to match the pronunciation. But spelling them the 'same' makes for completely different sounds. The literal spelling isn't as important as the pronunciation.
I would do it like this:
ラファエル･グレーコ rafaeru gureeko
For reference I'm pronouncing Raffaele as in the English pronunciation of Raphael (as in the artist, or the Ninja Turtle ). But if it's pronounced more like the original Italian name of the artist Raphael (Raffaello), it'd be ラファエロ. And Grieco as in.. well, the surname Grieco in the only way I've ever heard it. But if it's pronounced 'greeko' (like the word "Greek" plus "oh"), change it to グリーコ　guriiko.
