Corny Jokes

Postby dhoggan » June 6th, 2007 10:32 am

Hi guys,

My first post here so I hope this is an appropriate place for the question...

In one of the beginner lessons, Peter mentioned the term for a corny joke - the literal translation being something like 'old man joke' or something. I've tried my dictionary and Jim Breen's and had a look in the learning centre, but all to no avail.

Can anyone remember the Japanese?

Oh, also, to say tell a (corny) joke, can I simply use 言う?

Thanks and regards,

Dave

dhogganさん I believe that the term you are looking for is 親父ギャグ (おやじギャグ) which translates to old man jokes. it is apparently part of a larger concept of comedy called 駄洒落 (だじゃれ) if you want to know more about this, I suggest you go to the following links
